Welcome to all of you

From Event Director Dave Pickens

Greetings to those visiting as well as local instructors, competitors, and families to the National Kung Fu and Tai Chi Championships of the AAU Chinese Martial Arts Division for 2007. No matter if it's your first time or you're an old friend a warm Texas Howdy Partner...no we do not all talk like that, but our hearts are warm and friendly and we'll be glad to show you our hospitality!

You may have noticed that my title is that of Event Director and that is because more than just a tournament this is an event that should surprise as well as entertain you all! If you look at our Event Schedule you will notice we have a lot packed into a short period of time. Those with children will want to visit our Midway set up with supply vendors as well as bounce rooms, a rock climbing wall, displays and craft booths. We will have some holistic vendors as well as some non traditional additions like folk dancers, meditation groups and a drum circle. The evening Main Event will feature the days advanced forms champions, the finals of the advance applications divisions, some renowned Masters doing demonstrations as well as some outstanding recognition awards. Later for those of you that want to see the music night life that Austin is famous for, we will provide a free bus service to some Austin Legendary Haunts for Jazz, Blues, Western and alternative music. You will want to get in early to take part in our "free workshops" in the park on Sunday and if you're inclined we will have some red envelops that you may want to distribute to the instructors at our farewell dinner on Sunday afternoon.

I invite you to contact us about events you'd like to see in the future as we in turn show you what we've been working on and where we're headed.

I look forward to greeting each of you personally.

Dave Pickens
